Vietnamese solar manufacturer Boviet Solar will build its first North American production facility in Greenville, Pitt County, in the US state of North Carolina. The company will invest US$294 million into the plant, which will have an annual module production capacity of 2GW, alongside an annual cell production capacity of 2GW.
Boviet Solar’s PV modules are known for their power, performance, and quality and have been rated as top performers on Kiwa PVEL’s PV Module Reliability Scorecard since 2019. Black & Veatch successfully completed an independent assessment of Boviet Solar’s manufacturing facilities in 2022.
The second phase, which involves the construction of a 55,000sqm facility dedicated to the production of 2GW of annual nameplate capacity for solar cells, is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. Boviet Solar has not disclosed a timeframe for when it expects to begin commercial production of cells.
Sienna Cen, President of Boviet Solar USA, stated, “The completed facilities will produce 2.0 GW of solar modules and 2.0 GW of solar cells annually, significantly contributing to the U.S. solar supply chain and supporting the nation’s transition to clean energy.
