In collaboration with the World Bank, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the Africa Minigrid Development Association (AMDA), and other partners, the Government of Zambia is redoubling its efforts to invest in off-grid solar energy throughout the country to connect all Zambians.
Given the growing demand and government initiatives, it is very likely that new solar companies will arise in Zambia. The government aims to develop 600MW on-grid solar projects in the coming 2-3 years, with the GET FiT program supported by the German Development Bank.

Zambia currently relies on hydropower for 80% its electricity generation, but recent droughts have shown the limitations of this energy source.
