Thanks for responding! I guess it would be okay as a backup. I still think Garmin missed the mark here. I have an older GPSMAP and would have loved to replace it with an eTrex Solar as my main navigator in the backcountry, but the lack of maps or the ability to upload custom maps with trails is a huge deal breaker.
